My Bear Encounters in Sequoia National Park (Part II)

In Part I, "Overcoming My Fear of Bears," you read about my extreme phobia of bears, a fear I’ve had since birth as the result of a past-life, unfortunately deadly encounter with a grizzly. It’s a fear I’ve worked on slowly over the years, preparation for my day of testing: If a bear suddenly emerged from the woods now, would I be able to stay calm and stay alive? Or would I scream? run? faint? vomit? die of heart failure on the spot? all of the above?

You learned about my bear-expert sister’s advice, about my reliving of the past-life death and how it related to my husband, Joseph, as well. You’ve heard me mention my use of the newest, most effective form of post-traumatic stress treatment presently known: energy psychology (acupressure tapping) techniques. And now you’re going to read what happened when the moment came, with pictures and video.

Overcoming My Fear of Bears (Part I)

Rough-housing teenaged Alaskan brown bears, aka grizzlies!
This is why humans and bears can't play together!

I’ve had a terrifying phobia of bears all my life. The first time I saw one I was three years old and fell deathly ill. Ironically, my older sister is a bear expert, serving three seasons as a grizzly-viewing guide at a lodge in Alaska and writing a popular book about her experiences. She took this picture at close range. (!!)

Karma? You bet! But decades later in life, I still hadn’t overcome my knee-melting, stomach jolting FEAR at the very thought of bears. Until last week.

Are You Gender-Neutral?

I recently caught a story on NPR’s website about a trend they termed, “The End of Gender.” The article pointed to evidence such as an androgynous Australian model who walks runways for both women’s and men’s fashion, parents raising a child in gender-neutral fashion to allow the fullest room for choice, and a J. Crew advertisement featuring a boy with pink toenails. Not surprised by this supposed trend, I instantly thought of three good reasons for it, viewed through my interdimensional lens:

Housekeeping: An Act of Psychic Development?

"Sometimes that which you don't understand is drawn to you so that you will understand it. But never because you needed the lesson, and not because all must be so initiated, but only because there had been earlier thoughts of awe, wonder, or criticism. And such thoughts, as all thoughts must, have rearranged your life." - Mike Dooley

Power Secrets of Love

NOT MANY PEOPLE WANT TO KNOW ABOUT “PAST LIVES.” Instinctively, they sense that they are not this single existence. But given the problems they’re facing right now, they really don’t want to know about problems they faced centuries ago. And who can blame them?

But what they don’t realize is that they have Power. The Power to elicit immediate, permanent changes in the stickiest, most difficult areas of their lives, and to make those changes continuously, over time, until they’ve recreated themselves into someone they would prefer to be. The elusive pearl, Peace of Mind, awaits only their courage to know who they really are, where they’ve really been, and what they’ve really done.

Me? I don’t want to know either.
